Thanks, Sean. I haven't been to all the valleys in the Lake District, but I agree with you that Ennerdale is one of the best. It is a fine place to start a climb of Pillar or Great Gable. This year I will explore Upper Eskdale. I choose it for its remoteness. Your pics on StridingEdge by the way, were an inspiration that lead to this choice

You couldn't have picked a better area - Upper Eskdale is great, really quiet and offering great views of all the high fells. Plenty of pools for a dip, so I hope it's hot when you go. I am also thinking of a wild camp up there this summer with my son.
