I have not been affected by the new restrictions - yet, but if I am, it will be for the better.
I appreciate that the vast majority of "fast boat" owners are sensible, but as usual, there is the stupid minority that ruins things for the majority.
A couple of years ago, I was one of two leaders with a group of 8 or 10 novice canoeists, enjoying a paddle from Rayrigg. 2 jet skiers deliberately went through the group at max speed, with the obvious intention of capsizing as many as possible - which of course they succeeded in doing. Their actions were totally irresponsible and coule easily have ended tragically if any of the youngsters had panicked.
I have seen many such actions by jet skiers, I must admit though, that by and large, I have not been upset by the speed boats, except for the noise. However, on one occasion, there were two boats on the piers at Rayrigg, launching their skiers off the piers - despite large signs banning skiing there and despite other canoe groups trying to use the piers for more peaceful sporting activities.
I wont be sorry to see the speed limits introduced, but at the same time, I dont like seeing ever increasing regulations, preventing people doing what they enjoy.

I do not use the lake. But I think its a good thing. It will stop things like Paul's experiences happening and it will help prevent accidents and deaths.

I think the speed limit is a very good idea, it is long overdue. But I hope there is some leeway so the retriction can be lifted for one day for record breaking attempts and similar events. Are there any people being prosecuted for speeding yet I wonder?

It is not really a good idea as these idiots will only overcrowd other waters and shift the problem to a different area .

Is it not illegal to boat on most lakes?
